Franklin Gem and
Mineral Museum |
Gem
mining has been a favorite activity for visitors to
the Franklin area for years. The museum is located
in the historic "Old Jail" and offers free
admission. |
Great Smoky
Mountain Railroad |
With the
romance and mystique of an era gone by, guests on
board the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad will enjoy
scenic train journeys across fertile valleys,
through tunnels and across river gorges in a
spectacular region called the Great Smoky Mountains. |
Whitewater Rafting |
Whitewater rafting, canoeing, or kayaking are available
on the famous Nantahala and Ocoee Rivers. Outfitters
can accommodate large and small groups, beginners
and aces. For the more timid, the Little Tennessee
River offers a less chilling trip. |
Skiing |
With the
inn being located in the mountains, you know there is
a skiing just a short drive away. Check out Cataloochee and
Wolf Laurel ski resorts. |
Harrah's Casino |
This is
where Native American culture is thick with the
Cherokee Reservation close by. Also, if Blackjack
and video games are your thing, then Harrah's
Cherokee Casino is close by. |
Blue Ridge Parkway |
The
Blue Ridge Parkway, sometimes called "America's
Favorite Drive", is the most visited unit of
America's National Park System. A drive down the
Parkway provides stunning, long range vistas and
close-up looks at the natural and cultural history
of the southern Appalachian mountains. It is
designed as a drive-awhile and stop-awhile
experience, so please don't be in a hurry. |
Deals Gap: Tail of the Dragon |
The
Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, with 318 curves in
11 miles, is America ’s number one motorcycle and
sports car road. The nearby Cherohala Skyway is
quickly becoming number two with its remote 60 miles
of scenic mountain highway. The area also has other
roads less traveled, but just as exciting. Come and
discover them all. |
